What exactly is DödPool?

DödPool is a platform for managing private celebrity death pools. It organizes invitations, eligibility, shared celebrity inventory, random assignments, game history, and Commissioner-verified results.

What's up with Död?

Död is the Swedish word for “dead.” We figured if you’re going to build a pool around the inevitable, you might as well give it a little Scandinavian style.

Can anyone join a pool?

No. DödPool pools are private and invitation-only. A Commissioner for a specific pool must invite you.

Can I create an account without an invitation?

Public registration is not available. New Players register from a valid invitation link sent for a private pool.

Do I get the celebrity I submit?

No. Your approved celebrity joins that pool’s shared inventory. Assignments are made at game start, so adding a name is not the same as picking that person for yourself.

Who may I submit as a celebrity?

Submit only an eligible public figure you do not personally know, have a close personal or professional relationship with, have direct or privileged access to, or could reasonably influence or harm. The Rules explain the other eligibility requirements.

How are celebrities assigned?

The system randomly assigns one eligible celebrity to each eligible Player at a new game’s start, after honoring any confirmed keeper reservations.

What happens if nobody dies that month?

The same game continues into the next month. Surviving assignments stay put; there is no monthly redraw.

What happens when my celebrity dies?

A report is reviewed to decide whether it is a qualifying death. If it is the first qualifying death and your assignment and eligibility were active at that time, the result can proceed through provisional review to finalization.

What is the Dead Period?

The Dead Period is the normal time after a winner is declared and before the next game actually starts. Winner replacement and keeper decisions are completed during this phase.

How is a death confirmed?

Commissioners review credible sources and death chronology. A news publication time is not automatically treated as the time of death, and competing reports can be reviewed before a winner is final.

Can a celebrity become ineligible during a game?

Yes. For example, becoming a sitting world leader makes a celebrity ineligible. The assignment is removed and there is no mid-game replacement. Former world leaders are also ineligible.

What does the Commissioner do?

Commissioners administer their private pool: invitations, celebrity approvals, membership and payment confirmations, game operations, death verification, disputes, and final results.

Does DödPool process payments?

No. In v1, pool-money movement happens outside DödPool. The application records obligations and Commissioner-confirmed evidence of those external transactions.

Can a pool be played just for fun with no money?

Current pool setup requires Commissioner-configured membership and keeper fees. DödPool does not currently present a no-fee pool option.

Is running a celebrity death pool legal?

Rules and laws can vary by location and circumstances. Private pool organizers are responsible for understanding and complying with requirements that apply to them. DödPool tracks externally handled payment evidence but does not process pool payments.
